99% of the people I introduce myself to ask that question after I share what my major is.
I recall being mortified by the looks I got when I admitted that I had no idea (but it looked cool and I wanted to learn!)
Fast forward four years, I asked myself that question again and I really had to think about it. After plenty of researching and writing pages of notes I decided it would only be fitting to use this question to shape my senior thesis.
SO I will not bore you with my whole book of a thesis, but I will leave you with an introduction to help you recognize Digital Media Design when you see it.

In this day and age, technology is prevalent in everything we consume. From the moment you wake up to check your phone, turn on the television, or open your laptop for work, digital media design is the driver of accentuating stories through the aesthetics and functions of digital media to the masses. We are designers who contribute our skills to convey a message for your mind to absorb.
Defining Digital Media Design
What exactly is Digital Media Design? It is the animation of Motion Graphics, Typography, Visual Effects, Game Design, 3D Modeling, Web Design, Video Editing, Digital Illustration, Photography, and the ever-changing realms of our technological world that have yet to be defined. This field is constantly innovating its mediums to challenge creativity and user experience. We are moving forward with our ideas to enhance your involvement of the digital world. If you have not realized yet— all of our designs shape how you think through subliminal advertisement. Breaking down the definition is another way to understand it. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the term “Digital” is characterized by electronic and especially computerized technology. Think: every electronic device you own. “Media” is a medium of cultivation, conveyance, or expression. You can correlate that term to the means of mass media outlets. Lastly, “Design” is the purpose, planning, or intention that exists or is thought to exist behind an action, fact, or material object. Add these all together and the outcome is to attract your attention in some digital way, shape, or form.
